Power Rake

Power raking is the process of cutting swathes into the dead material of lawns  to remove dead grass so the soil can breathe and the grass can grow more  efficiently. Thatch is the build-up of grass clippings and other debris that accumulate in the area between the soil surface and the blades of grass. Some thatch can be beneficial by helping retainig moisture. However, build-up of more than 1/4″ of thatch can prevent water, air and nutrients from reaching the soil and roots. Furthurmore, is can harbor pests and create conditions that promote disease.

Power Raking is often accompanied by re-seeding and  fertilizing. TTis is usually necessary to replace the lawn  matter torn out by the process. When power raking, re-seeding gives the lawn new  growth and promotes overall health.
